According to National Review, a Chinese Communist “overseas police station” in New York City has been shuttered as a result of federal and local investigations and the expressions of dismay from members of Congress.
The European human rights organization Safeguard Defenders has published reports on the controversial behavior of these offices. The overseas police act as extensions of local police departments back in China and have been accused of spying, harassment, and threats to get expatriates to return home or otherwise comply with the CCP’s wishes.
