It’s been clear for a while that the anti-Israel student protests plaguing bastions of higher learning are not entirely indigenous to the campuses. Some external influences are also involved. Not all of the “student protesters” are even students at the campuses where they’re hollering for Hamas.
The ratio of nonmatriculated outside agitators to actual students has probably varied considerably from campus to campus. But in New York City, officials reported in early May 2024 that “nearly half of the 282 people arrested at pro-Palestinian protests on two campuses this past week are not currently affiliated with either school.” The schools were Columbia University and City College.
Since the Chinese Communist Party is good buddies with Hamas and other terrorist groups and governments, might there be a CCP connection to the many violent and vandalistic protests?
There might (“Chinese Communist Party-linked network behind ‘well-funded’ anti-Israel campus protests, group says,” Fox News, May 15, 2024):
The report, published [by Network Contagion Research Institute] last week, highlights the activities of “seemingly grassroots activist movements,” like Shut It Down for Palestine (SID4P), which was formed after the Oct. 7 attack on Israel.
NCRI described SID4P as an “anti-capitalist, anti-police, and anti-government protest movement [that] functions as a hybrid online/real-world network for mobilizing frequent demonstrations as well as gradually escalating direct-action campaigns targeting critical infrastructure and public spaces.”
Operating under the SID4P umbrella are members of the “Singham Network,” a global web of nonprofits, fiscal sponsors and alternative news sources tied to Neville Roy Singham [shown above], an American-born multimillionaire tech mogul based in Shanghai who is married to Jodie Evans, co-founder of the left-wing anti-war group Code Pink.
The NCRI described Singham as a “conduit” for CCP geopolitical influence….
Though ostensibly focused on Israel, the broader protests are part of a “well-funded initiative driving a revolutionary, anti-government, and anti-capitalist agenda, with leading organizations serving as versatile tools for foreign entities hostile to the U.S.,” the report said.
Three of the several organizations constituting SID4P are the means by which CCP-affiliated entities “have effectively co-opted pro-Palestinian activism in the U.S. to advance a broader anti-American, anti-democratic, and anti-capitalist agenda,” according to NCRI.
These Singham-funded groups did not introduce the anti-American, anti-democratic, anti-capitalist ideas and sensibilities of the left-wing student activists. These are a decades-old feature of universities, one that has many philosophical and institutional causes. But the Singham groups have been going all out to egg them on.
