America has been slow to grasp the pervasiveness of the undeclared war that China is waging against the United States from within the United States, argues Gordon Chang (above) in commentary for The Daily Caller Foundation (“Don’t Let China Attack America From Within,” July 13, 2023).
● In April 2023, the Justice Department arrested two individuals for establishing what Justice called the first overseas police station for China in the United States. But this is the tip of the iceberg. China also operates many Overseas Chinese Service Centers in many other US cities.
● The CCP’s United Front Work Department, which the Party uses to interact with foreign individuals, “often functions as an intelligence service” that pursues Chinese nationals who are legally in the country and under the protection of American law.
● Americans argue about whether the massive Chinese bribes of Hunter Biden mean that President Biden is beholden to the Chinese government. But the Chinese “certainly think Biden has been purchased. In November 2020, Renmin University’s Di Dongsheng gave a lecture publicized widely inside China. Di claimed that China, with Biden in the Oval Office, would control outcomes at the highest levels in Washington.”
● China works to groom many American politicians, as it did in the case of Representative Eric Swalwell, and to gather blackmail material on them through cyberattacks and other means.
● China has many bases of operations in the United States: its “four consulates and large Washington, D.C. embassy as well as nine or so police stations, many state banks and enterprises, Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms, and organizations such as the Chinese Students and Scholars Association. China’s regime, over the course of decades, has penetrated just about every organization of influence in the United States.”
Chang says that the US must at least kick every Chinese national with ties to the CCP out of the country.
The regime uses every point of contact to destroy America, so America needs to sever every point of contact with the regime.
Americans cannot afford to leave any Communist Party member or any Chinese saboteur, agent, official, banker, or corporate officer in America. There should be no Chinese consulates in the U.S., and the embassy staff of hundreds should be cut down to the ambassador, his personal staff, and family.
Extreme? By no means. Why should we ever allow China to attack America from America?
These recommendations are a little ambiguous, since, for example, a Chinese-born banker working in the US is not necessarily someone with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or willing to cooperate with them. But as for ejecting CCP members, saboteurs, all personnel of Chinese consulates and most personnel of the Chinese embassy, yes, let’s do that.
