Chinese assault rifles. Chinese grenade launchers. Chinese rifle sights. Chinese “cartridges for M16s, high-end communications equipment, listening devices, tactical military radios, and sophisticated explosives.”
These items are military equipment found in Hamas warehouses and a Hamas weapons lab (“Chinese weapons found in Gaza, report claims,” Bill Gertz, The Washington Times, April 4, 2024).
The war between Israel and Hamas has revealed extensive Chinese support for Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups that the U.S. and Israel consider terrorist organizations, according to strategic analyst Guermantes Lailari….
China in January denied providing Hamas with military equipment, although Mr. Lailari said that extensive Chinese military backing for Iran is a likely source of the arms.
“Even if the Chinese military supplies discovered in Gaza were provided by Iran, [Chinese] officials knew that Iran forwarded equipment to Hamas,” he said. “Certainly, Iran provided funding and training to use the equipment.”
Chinese military technology also has been found in missiles used by other anti-Israel Iran-backed regional groups such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah, the Houthis in Yemen and Iraqi Shiite militia groups, he said.
That Hamas and other terrorist groups are backed by Iran and that Iran is in turn backed by China is a conclusion drawn by China scholar Steven Mosher as well. He further believes that China backs Hamas more directly. In an article originally published a couple of weeks after the October 7, 2023 attacks in Israel, Mosher wrote:
Hamas also brought some very advanced weaponry to Israel from Gaza, such as thermobaric rocket-propelled grenades, or RPGs.
These weapons were manufactured in Iran or North Korea, notes Wurmser, but the state-of-the-art technology likely came from China.
Some in Hamas even have personal ties to China, such as Mohammed Deif, the terrorist leader reportedly responsible for the planning of the massacre. Chinese dissident journalist Lu De and others report that the PLO sent Deif to China in 1996, where the CCP enrolled him in the PLA’s Ordnance Engineering College in Shijiazhuang, China.
There he learned the skills he would later use to kill Israelis. The CCP even supplied him with a Chinese Muslim wife, whom Lu suggests is a conduit for communications with Beijing.
All this is part of a larger story: the West’s self-destructive financing and technological and other enabling of China’s war on the West, a war in which China is “lighting the fires of conflict wherever it can.”

Most people realize that the Islamic Republic of Iran provides money, equipment, training, intelligence, and diplomatic support to Gaza terror groups…. However, one connection that is rarely discussed in detail is [China’s] support for terrorist groups. This article will examine Communist China’s support for Hamas and provide recommendations to counter China’s subversive actions.
