Wang Huning, a CCP Standing Committee member has, according to Nikkei Asia, been tasked with masterminding the acquisition of Taiwan. The CCP refers to the forced joining as “reunification” although Taiwan was never unified with Communist China.
Apparently, the rhetoric of “one country, two systems” is being abandoned, as the obvious failure to maintain Hong Kong’s freedoms makes it an implausible policy position.
