Anne Applebaum writes in The Atlantic about the trusted role that Taiwan’s civil society organizations play in filtering disinformation directed by the Chinese Communist Party, which is intended to create a belief that Taiwan can’t resist the eventual takeover by China. In addition to being a transpartisan source of information, she explains in “China’s War Against Taiwan Has Already Started,” that Taiwanese civil society converts anxiety into preparedness by supporting trainings that teach skills that may be need in a disaster (including a full-on assault by Chinese forces).
