As federal officials drone on about how the drones over New Jersey etc. are known to be not a threat, former President and President-elect Donald Trump “accused President Biden and his subordinates of a cover-up—but said he doesn’t believe they are the work of a hostile foreign power” (“ ‘Spy drones’ from China are likely cause of unexplained aircraft wreaking havoc over US, House foreign affairs chair says in bombshell claim,” NY Post, December 17, 2024).
“Look, our military knows where they took off from—if it’s a garage, they can go right into that garage. They know where it came from and where it went, and for some reason they don’t want to comment,” says Trump.
Coming and going
Garage in Newark, aircraft carrier off the Atlantic coast, orbiting mother ship from Mars—we the people just don’t know yet where the drones are coming from and what they are doing here and are a prelude to. (My guess: something not good.)
But are federal officials covering up actual information? Or are they covering up reluctance or inability to perform one of the primary functions of government, defense? From the Post story:
House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul said Tuesday he believes that some of the unidentified drones spotted above New Jersey and New York are “spy drones” from China—after Biden administration officials insisted many of the sightings are innocent commercial aircraft.
“We want answers, but the response I’m getting is ‘We don’t know whose drones these are,’ ” McCaul (R-Texas) told reporters before executive branch officials offered a classified briefing to members of the House Intelligence Committee.
“I was with the NASA administrator, Bill Nelson. He said that these drones have been reported over military sites, military bases. I would not think those are friendly. I would think those are adversarial,” McCaul said….
“I believe they’re spy drones and…Communist China is very good at this stuff. We know they bought land around military bases. This would be very consistent with their policy over the past couple years.”
It’s guesswork, albeit informed guesswork. One would have to put China on the short list of suspects.
President-elect Trump recently held a press conference in which he said that “China and the United States can together solve all of the problems of the world, if you think about it.” That’s an assertion that he should think about a little harder.

“Federal officials have examined 5,000 incidents in a week or two, and every drone was found to be ‘operating legally and for the purpose of the common good.’ ”
